Babakan, Bali · Neighbourhood guide

Living in Babakan, Bali

Babakan sits inland from Canggu’s coastal areas, in Bali. Choosing a home here also means considering the journeys you will make every day. Schools, sport and everyday stops: these local reference points will help you plan your visit.

Where Babakan fits within Canggu

Babakan is part of Canggu village in North Kuta, Badung. Batu Bolong provides a coastal reference when you first explore the area; Babakan is the inland setting of our three-villa residence. Plan time to see both the approach to the homes and the destinations you would use regularly.

For families with young children, Matahari, Treehouse, Skoebi-do and Malajah are useful local landmarks. Parklife adds a place to meet and play, while Bali Padel Academy on Jalan Babakan Kubu is a reference for sport. Schools in Tibubeneng and Umalas broaden the options as children grow.

From home to the places you enjoy

A home search becomes more tangible when you picture a normal day: school drop-off, groceries on the way back, an afternoon at home and time for exercise. Choose a few stops to try together. Include the supermarket, café or workspace you would genuinely use.

Bali Padel Academy, on Jalan Babakan Kubu, is one local anchor for an active routine. Check its sessions directly and add the club to your exploration if you play. For a beach visit, choose your destination and time of day, then make the return journey part of your assessment.

If a church is part of your weekly routine, GKPB Jemaat Canggu Permai is listed at Jalan Canggu Permai IV, complex B.12. Contact the congregation about services and language before including it in your visit.

Early years close to home

A baby group with a parent, a play-based preschool or a kindergarten class: these nearby addresses serve different stages of early childhood. They give families several places to explore before choosing the right daily rhythm.

The project team estimates journeys from the residence to these four places at around seven minutes or less by scooter, depending on traffic. Try the school run in the vehicle your family would use.

Parklife’s playschool, on Jalan Raya Uma Buluh No. 15, offers four age groups and learning through play. Having the school within a family hub also gives parents a setting to return to for playtime or a meal together.

Parklife, beyond the school day

Parklife brings together indoor and outdoor play areas, a family restaurant and activities for children. For a family settling into the neighbourhood, it is a useful place for a playdate, lunch with friends or an afternoon out with the children.

Malajah is the playschool within Parklife. A separate drop-off day-care service welcomes children aged three and over, including during school holidays. A family visit, preschool enrolment and occasional care are different ways to use the same place.

School options as children grow

For siblings of different ages, or a longer-term move to Bali, look at schools with primary and secondary programmes too. These destinations extend the search into Tibubeneng and Umalas, each with its own school-run route.

DALLEAU: planning everyday family life in Bali

Plan the school run around the school day

Try your chosen school route on a weekday around arrival or pick-up, using the vehicle your household would normally use. Traffic and route conditions vary with the hour, weather and roadworks. Include waiting, parking and the return trip in your planning.

If you would like to walk for some errands, explore those routes on foot. Look at crossings, shade and the space available for children or a pushchair. The final stretch to the house deserves as much attention as the main road.

Does Babakan fit the way you want to live?

A family spending much of the day at home will weigh space and layout heavily. A household making several school, work and activity trips will give more weight to access. A useful comparison with other parts of Canggu follows the same routine and the same destinations.

At the villa, picture where everyone would spend their time. Check pool access, stairs, outdoor shade, storage and a place to work or read. Review the individual plans with us, including how bedrooms would serve children, guests and visiting family.

What to look at when you visit

Walk through the villa and its surroundings with the project team. Three points are particularly useful to discuss.

Access

Try the approach, turning and parking. Locate the entrance for visitors and deliveries.

The surroundings

Listen and look around. Discuss nearby works, drainage and any areas worth revisiting after rain.

The villa dossier

Ask for current plans, inclusions, construction progress and purchase documents, including access and shared responsibilities.
